Detox day 1 (and stuff)

I made a comment in the post 15-Year-Old-Me that I was planning on quitting smoking and that I was planning on quitting last Monday. Well I have, admittedly it wasn't last Monday as I said, it was last Thursday. Yup I have not had a cigarette since around 11:00 am Thursday morning. After a bugger of a weekend and that little voice in my head saying "ahh screw it we can start stopping again tomorrow" I made it through to the week cigarette free.

At the moment I am taking it one day at a time, I will worry about getting through tomorrow without a cigarette when I wake up in the morning. As well as quitting smoking I have taken things one stage further, yeah "Extreme Dude". Today is the first day of a one week detox where I am not eating any processed food, dairy or bread. Only fresh fruit and veg. I'm not overly worried about not eating processed stuff, that will be easy. The hard bit will be doing without Pizza, (mmm Pizza), but even this will not be as hard as not having caffeine. Yes boys, girls and those of you of mixed or no gender the coffee addict who once had the sub heading of his blog as "Powered by Caffeine and Random Energy Drinks" is doing without coffee and energy drinks for a week, 7 whole days, 168 hours, not that I'm counting because I'm not.. Honest I'm not.. 10080 minutes (and yeah I Googled the figures).

I have to admit temptation has been my bug bear today, not with the smoking thing I'm getting through that just fine, I even had a dream last night that someone offered me a cigarette and I refused it, not only did I say no but I ran away from it. Todays temptation has been with food, I have caught my self a few times looking in the fridge for something to eat, staring all dreamy-eyed at the bread and that block of mature cheddar just sat there calling to me "Jim, eat us, make a sandwich with us... We need you", and this is just day one for gods sake. I resisted with the thought that its only the first day and after the 7th day the healthy eating will start.

  1. Congratulations on being cigarette free! I wish you luck with the eating. Maybe you should empty that fridge out and fill it with leafy greens and the colours of fruit. Eat well!

  2. Thanks for your comment Colline but I think my four children would have issues with that hehe.
