Elizabeth WrONGed

Notice over there on the left, theres a new link that will take you to the Universal declaration of Human Rights, if you were to click on it you would end up on a UN page which lists all the articles of the Human Rights act. Once again it seems I am to climb on my soap box and once again it seems I am to shout the battle cry of "Article 12" mainly the bit that says "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family". See, over the past couple of days I have noticed some people coming to my site after searching for naked pictures of a certain person namely Elizabeth Wong the once secretary-general of the National Human Rights Society (Hakam), then today before I went to work I noticed that the post I made in 2007 about Nat Tan a blogger over Malaysia who was arrested was back in my top 5 posts, I click on the link and there it was a link taking me to the blog hosted by Eli the person who people seem to want to see naked.

Now before I go any further I dont know much about Elizabeth Wong or what she does, other than what I read on her blog. I live at the other side of the planet. However what I do know is that when Nat Tan was wrongly arrested back in the summer of 2007 she was one of the bigger voices shouting for his release.

Anyway since those days it seems she has managed to get herself involved in a smear campaign set against her. On Friday 13 February, 2009 she was informed by a journalists from the Malay Mail that they have in their possession intimate photos of herself and that the newspaper will be publishing a story about these photographs.

As I say I dont know the full story or what exactly the newspaper in question were hopping to get out of this black mail tactic, I dont know who (At this time) the newspaper are working for with these threats. What I do know is once again the corruption of government and big business possibly has reared its ugly head, forgetting that they are in direct violation of article 12 of the Universal Human Rights act which states "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks."

It is unfortunate that today Elizabeth Wong has seen fit to give up her political career and has tendered her resignation as Selangor state executive councillor and Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Full storey here.

Those of you who have come here hopping to see these pictures are out of luck, I dont have them and even if I did I would not publish them. If you want to know more about this miscarriage of justice and rights then you should go to Elizabeth Wongs blog site and hear it first hand from her. Click "here" to get there.

Because of this again today I was forced I remember how lucky I am to live in a country were Freedom of speech and thought is not scorned on (more or less). I am lucky, and I am going to fully abuse this freedom as much as I possibly can...
